Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Sifted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Divided
  • 1 cup milk Warm
  • 2 large eggs Beaten
  • 1 tbsp baking powder For leavening
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract For flavor
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil For frying

For the Toppings

  • 1 cup powdered sugar For glazing
  • 1/4 cup milk For glaze consistency
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon Optional

Instructions
 

Dough Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar (reserve some for later), baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the warm milk, beaten eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Roll the dough to approximately 1/2 inch thick and use a donut cutter to cut out donut shapes.

Frying

  • In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  • Fry the donuts for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Topping

  • In a separate bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth for the glaze.
  • Dip the warm donuts in the glaze and sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.

Notes
