  • 0.5 cup Shredded Cheese Swiss or Gruyere
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme
  • Salt and Pepper To taste

Optional Flavor Enhancers

  • Onion soup mix for extra flavor

Instructions

Preparation

  • Caramelize sliced onions in olive oil over medium heat for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, cheese, egg, seasonings, and cooled onions. Mix gently.
  • Form the mixture into a loaf on a lined baking sheet or use a loaf pan.

Cooking

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 50-60 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Let the onions cool before mixing them into the meat to avoid warming the meatloaf. Add different herbs like parsley or oregano for more flavor. For a kick, include some pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce.
