Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 150 ml milk (lukewarm)
  • 70 ml water (lukewarm)
  • 7 g instant yeast
  • 12 g honey
  • 400 g all-purpose flour
  • 7 g salt
  • 30 g unsalted butter (room temperature)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Stir the yeast into the lukewarm milk, water, and honey. Let it rest until it becomes foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, add the flour, salt, and soft butter. Pour in the foamy yeast mixture and mix everything together.
  • Knead the mixture until it is smooth and elastic, about 5-10 minutes.
  • Cover the bowl with a cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 to 1.5 hours.

Shaping and Frying

  • Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball. Optionally, fill them with ingredients like jam, cheese, or meat.
  • Place the formed buns on a tray and let them rest for 30-40 minutes until puffy.
  • Heat oil in a deep pot or skillet to 175°C (350°F). Fry the buns in small batches until they turn golden brown.
  • Remove the buns from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.

Notes

Ensure that the milk and water are lukewarm. Knead the dough well for a soft texture. If buns brown too quickly, lower the heat. Experiment with different fillings.
