Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 300 g flour
  • 1 piece egg
  • 45 g sugar
  • a pinch of salt salt
  • 7 g dry yeast
  • 140 ml warm milk
  • 40 g softened butter

For Decoration

  • Whipped cream
  • Chopped strawberries
  • Powdered sugar

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, combine the sugar, dry yeast, and warm milk. Stir until the sugar and yeast have dissolved.
  • Beat the egg in a separate bowl. Add the flour and a pinch of salt. Begin mixing the ingredients together with a spatula.
  • Gradually incorporate the flour into the egg mixture. As the dough forms, knead it with your hands until it becomes elastic.
  • Add the softened butter to the dough and continue kneading until the butter is completely integrated.
  • Shape the dough into a ball, cover it with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and allow it to rise for about an hour.
  • After the dough has risen, divide it into 8 equal parts. Roll each part into a ball and cover them. Let them rest for 30 minutes.
  • Take each ball and flatten it slightly. Then, roll it back into a ball shape. Cover them again and let them rest for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Heat some oil in a pan over low heat. Carefully fry the dough balls for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown.
  • Allow the fried dough balls to cool slightly, and then cut them in half lengthwise.
  • Spread a generous amount of whipped cream on one half of the berlin and top it with chopped strawberries. Place the other half on top and dust powdered sugar over the top.
