One-Hour Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups 3 1/2 cups warm water
  • 0.75 cups 3/4 cup sugar
  • 0.5 cups 1/2 cup oil
  • 6 tablespoons 6 tablespoons yeast (4 1/2 Saf-Instant) If using yeast packets, conversion may be necessary.
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon salt
  • 3 large 3 eggs
  • 10.5 cups 10 1/2 cups flour Regular flour is acceptable, not self-rising.

Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture

  • 1 cup 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Frosting Ingredients

  • 1 cube 1 cube of butter (equivalent to 1/2 cup)
  • 2 dashes 2 dashes of salt
  • 2 teaspoons 2 teaspoons of vanilla
  • 6 cups 6 cups of powdered sugar
  • Milk Add as needed for desired consistency.

Instructions
 

Dough Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, oil, and yeast. Let sit for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, add salt, eggs, and flour. Mix everything together for 10 minutes.
  • Let the dough sit for an additional 10 minutes.

Rolling and Baking

  • Grease a cupboard with oil (don't use flour) and dump out the dough. Divide it in half.
  • Press one half into a rectangle. Spread it with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Roll it up tightly but not too tight. Divide the roll into 12 individual rolls.
  • Place them on a greased cookie sheet and repeat with the other half of the dough.
  • Let the rolls rise until sufficiently puffy.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes at 400°F (200°C).

Notes

These cinnamon rolls can be frozen, although they are quick to make. The rising time may vary with room temperature and humidity. To make half the number of rolls, simply halve the recipe.
