  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until all the wet ingredients are well combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Cooking

  • Preheat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and lightly grease it with butter or cooking spray.
  • Using a 1/4-cup measuring cup, pour the pancake batter onto the hot griddle.
  • Cook the pancakes until bubbles form on the surface and the edges appear set, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Flip the pancakes with a spatula and cook the other side until golden brown, about 2 minutes more.
  • Transfer the cooked pancakes to a warm plate and cover them with a clean kitchen towel to keep them warm.
