Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cubed) Make sure the butter is cold for added flakiness.
  • 3/4 cup whole milk Milk should be at room temperature.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing This creates a buttery topping for the biscuits.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until well incorporated.
  • Add the cubed unsalted butter to the dry ingredients. Work the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Slowly pour in the whole milk and gently mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms. Avoid overmixing.

Shaping and Baking

  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat it into a 1-inch thickness and cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter.
  • Place the biscuits in your prepared baking dish, ensuring they are touching.
  • Melt two tablespoons of butter and brush it over the tops of the biscuits.
  • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.

Serving

  • Let the biscuits cool for a minute, then serve while warm.
