Ingredients
  

For the fajitas

  • 1 pound flank steak, skirt steak, or your preferred cut Use your favorite cut of steak for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For cooking the steak and vegetables.
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced Provides sweetness and color.
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced Provides freshness and color.
  • 1 yellow onion sliced Adds flavor and sweetness.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances the overall flavor.

For the seasoning

  • 2 teaspoons chili powder Core spice for flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon cumin Adds depth to the seasoning.
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika For color and sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper Adjust to taste for spiciness.

For serving

  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish Optional for garnish.
  • Flour tortillas, for serving Wrap the fajitas in tortillas.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Slice the steak into thin strips, across the grain for tenderness.
  • In a small bowl, combine chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to create the seasoning blend.

Cooking

  • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add one tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Add the steak strips to the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil, then toss in the sliced bell peppers and onions. Sauté until tender and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the bell peppers and onions. Add minced garlic and lime juice, stirring to combine and heat through.

Serving

  • Serve the spicy steak fajitas in warm flour tortillas, garnished with fresh cilantro leaves and optional toppings.

Notes

Adjust the cayenne pepper for desired heat. Marinating the steak in seasoning for 30 minutes enhances flavor. Additional toppings can include sour cream, guacamole, and salsa.
