  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion Finely chop the onion for better distribution.
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 large egg Acts as a binder for the patties.
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise Adds moisture and flavor to the patties.

Preparation

  • Open the can of salmon and thoroughly drain it. Use a fork to flake the salmon evenly, then place it in a mixing bowl.
  • Add the finely chopped onion, cornmeal, flour, egg, and mayonnaise to the flaked salmon in the mixing bowl.
  • Stir the ingredients until they are well blended.

Shaping and Cooking

  • Shape the mixture into patties similar in size to an average burger, yielding about four patties.
  • Heat a skillet with oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the salmon patties in the skillet.
  • Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes until browned on one side, then flip and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

Serving

  • Remove the patties from the skillet and let them drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  • Serve the Southern Fried Salmon Patties hot and enjoy the crispy texture and savory flavor.
