Savory Meatball Sandwiches
A burst of flavors in every bite with sweet Hawaiian rolls, succulent chicken meatballs, and gooey melted cheese.
Ingredients
For the Sauce-Infused Meatballs
- 1 can 8 oz tomato sauce
- 3 teaspoons Italian seasoning, divided 3 teaspoons for the sauce, remaining for butter mixture
- 3 teaspoons garlic powder, divided 1 teaspoon for the sauce, remaining for butter mixture
- 1 pack 12 oz refrigerated chicken meatballs, cut in half Halved for mixing in sauce
For the Sandwich Assembly
- 1 package sweet Hawaiian dinner rolls (12 rolls)
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 1.5 cups grated mozzarella cheese
- 3 tablespoons melted butter For brushing on top of the rolls
Instructions
Preparing the Sauce-Infused Meatballs
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
- In a large bowl, combine the tomato sauce with 3 teaspoons of Italian seasoning and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. Mix well. Add the halved meatballs to the sauce mixture and stir to ensure they are coated. Set aside.
Crafting the Meatball Sandwich Assembly
- Take the sweet Hawaiian dinner rolls out of the packaging, but keep them together as a bundle. Carefully cut the entire bundle of rolls in half horizontally.
- Place the bottom half of the rolls in a 13×9-inch baking dish, cut side facing upwards. Lay the provolone cheese slices over the bottom half of the rolls.
- Evenly distribute the meatballs and sauce over the provolone cheese layer. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese over the meatballs.
- Place the top half of the rolls (cut side down) over the mozzarella layer.

- Brush the tops of the rolls with the butter mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.
