Strawberry Heaven on Earth Cake
A delightful dessert combining angel food cake with strawberry pie filling and vanilla pudding for a heavenly treat.
Ingredients
For the Cake Layers
- 1 10-ounce premade angel food cake or boxed angel food cake mix, prepared and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 21-ounce can strawberry pie filling
For the Pudding Mixture
- 1 3.4-ounce box vanilla instant pudding mix
- 1 cup cold whole milk
- 1 cup sour cream
For the Topping
- 1 8-ounce tub whipped topping, thawed
Instructions
Preparation
- Lightly spray a 9x9 glass baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside.
- Layer half of the cubed angel food cake on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Evenly spread half of the strawberry pie filling over the angel food cake layer.
- Add the remaining angel food cake cubes on top of the strawberry pie filling.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the cold milk and sour cream until smooth. Add the instant vanilla pudding mix and whisk until the mixture starts to thicken.
- Evenly spread the milk and pudding mixture over the angel food cake cubes.
- Use an offset spatula to evenly spread the thawed whipped topping over the pudding layer.
- Spoon the remaining strawberry pie filling in dollops across the whipped topping. Gently swirl the pie filling with a butter knife.
- Cover the dish tightly and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours or overnight.
- Keep the cake refrigerated until ready to serve.
Notes
For best flavor, consume within 2-3 days after preparation. You can use frozen strawberries instead of pie filling, but it may alter the taste and texture.
