Ingredients
  

For the Apple Filling

  • 6 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples (about 6-8 medium apples—Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Enhances flavor and prevents browning
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

For the Crisp Topping

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats Chewy texture
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples and lemon juice. Add granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and flour. Stir well until apples are evenly coated.
  • In another mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture is crumbly.
  • In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spread the apple filling evenly. Sprinkle the crisp topping over the apples.

Baking

  • Bake the dish in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, until apples are bubbling and topping is golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for at least 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream to enhance the dessert. Customize spices or add nuts for variation. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
