Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your choice, smoky or tangy)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Assembly

  • 12 pieces slider buns (King's Hawaiian or similar)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika, ensuring they are well-coated.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the seasoned chicken breasts. Cook for approximately 6-7 minutes per side until they are cooked through and no longer pink in the middle (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).

Shredding

  • After the chicken has cooled slightly, remove it from the skillet and shred it using two forks or by placing it in a stand mixer with a paddle attachment.

Mixing

  • In the same skillet, combine the shredded chicken with the barbecue sauce. Stir well over medium heat until the chicken is fully coated and heated through, about 3-5 minutes.

Assembly

  • Slice the slider buns in half and lay the bottom halves in a baking dish. Evenly distribute the BBQ chicken mixture over the buns. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Baking

  • Place the top halves of the slider buns on top of the cheese. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Serving

  • Carefully remove the sliders from the oven. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

You can prepare the chicken mixture in advance, store it in the refrigerator, and assemble the sliders right before baking. Use leftover chicken or try various cheeses for a twist.
