Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded (or a cheese blend)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional for extra flavor)
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns or soft hoagie rolls
  • to taste chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Dice the onion and green bell pepper, and mince the garlic to ensure everything is ready to go when you start cooking.

Cooking the Beef

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks, approximately 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.

Adding Vegetables

  • Reduce the heat to medium and add the diced onion and green bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes or until they become soft. Add minced garlic during the last 1 minute of cooking.

Seasoning the Mixture

  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly and let everything cook together for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Melting the Cheese

  • Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese over the mixture, then cover the skillet. Allow the cheese to melt for about 2 minutes.

Assembling the Sandwiches

  • Toast the hamburger buns or hoagie rolls. Scoop generous portions of the cheesesteak mixture onto the buns.

Garnishing and Serving

  • Optional: sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top for garnish. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor and feel free to customize the cheese based on your preference. This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving. Adjust seasoning to taste.
