Ingredients

For the Beef Base

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 for best flavor) Higher fat content for juiciness.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (yellow or Dijon, based on preference)

For the Bowls

  • 4 cups cooked rice (white or brown, or use cauliflower rice for a low-carb option)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup sliced pickles (dill or sweet based on preference)
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (for drizzling, optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all the ingredients listed above. If you haven’t cooked your rice yet, do so according to package directions and keep it warm.

Cooking the Beef

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Use a wooden spoon to break it up as it browns. Cook until fully browned and no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes.
  • Once the meat is cooked, drain any excess fat if necessary. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, ketchup, and mustard. Mix well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through and well combined.

Assembling the Bowls

  • In large serving bowls, spoon a generous amount of cooked rice as the base. Top each bowl with a portion of the seasoned ground beef.
  • Evenly distribute the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced pickles, and diced red onions over the beef.
  • If desired, drizzle some mayonnaise over the bowls for extra creaminess. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Choose the right beef for the best flavor. Customize toppings to your liking. Store leftovers for up to 3 days, and reheat as needed. Consider creating a vegetarian version or low-carb option.
