Ingredients

Crust

  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup butter melted

Cream Layer

  • 1 cup cream cheese full-fat recommended
  • 1 cup whipped cream or Cool Whip

Topping

  • 1 cup strawberry gelatin prepared according to package directions

Instructions

Preparation

  • Mix the crushed pretzels with melted butter, then press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a baking dish to form a crust.
  • In a bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Fold in the whipped cream until well combined, then spread this mixture over the pretzel crust.
  • Prepare the strawberry gelatin according to the package directions. Once it is slightly thickened, pour it over the cream layer.
  • Place the dessert in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 4 to 6 hours, or until set.

Serving

  • When ready to serve, cut the Classic Strawberry Pretzel Salad into squares and place them on dessert plates. This dish is great served chilled, with extra fresh strawberries on top for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

Make sure the pretzel crust is pressed down tightly to hold the layers together. Use full-fat cream cheese for a richer taste. Adding fresh strawberries to the cream layer enhances the berry flavor. Experiment with different flavors of gelatin for a twist.
