Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces bone-in pork chops (about 1 inch thick) Choose thick cuts for juiciness.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can substitute with half-and-half or coconut milk.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (optional, for thickening)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Season both sides of the chops with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Searing

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the pork chops to the skillet. Sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

Sautéing

  • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the sliced onions. Sauté for 4-5 minutes, or until they become soft and translucent. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.

Making the Gravy

  • Pour in the chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and let the mixture simmer for about 2-3 minutes.

Adding Cream

  • Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream. If you prefer a thicker gravy, whisk the flour into the cream before adding it to prevent lumps. Stir until well combined and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

Returning and Cooking the Chops

  • Place the seared pork chops back into the skillet, spooning some of the gravy over them. Cover the skillet with a lid and let everything cook together for 10-15 minutes on low heat.

Garnishing and Serving

  • Once the pork chops are cooked through, remove them from heat. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Tips for perfect results include using bone-in chops for juiciness, not rushing the searing, letting the chops rest after cooking, and potentially adding veggies to the gravy.
