Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (2 sticks)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Chocolate Chips

  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Set this mixture aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Drop heaping tablespoons of cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and centers look slightly underbaked.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Serving

  • Serve the cookies warm for the best experience.

Notes

For perfect results, use room temperature ingredients, consider chilling the dough for thicker cookies, and avoid overmixing. Experiment with different types of chocolate or nuts for added texture.
