  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

For the Honey BBQ Sauce

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce Ensure gluten-free if desired.
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional for a kick.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Rinse the ribs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs if it hasn't already been done.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.

Seasoning

  • Rub the seasoning mixture generously over both sides of the ribs.
  • Place the ribs on a large baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, meat side up.

Cooking

  • Cover the ribs with another piece of aluminum foil and seal the edges tightly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours.

Prepare Sauce

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, honey, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
  • Heat over medium heat until the mixture begins to bubble, then reduce heat and let simmer for 15 minutes.

Glazing

  • After 2 hours, remove the ribs from the oven and discard the top layer of foil.
  • Brush a generous amount of honey BBQ sauce over the ribs.
  • Return the ribs to the oven uncovered and bake for an additional 30 minutes.

Final Touches

  • Once the ribs are done, allow them to rest for 10 minutes before cutting.
  • Slice between the bones to separate the ribs and serve with remaining sauce.

Notes

Let the ribs rest before slicing. Marinating overnight enhances flavors. You can finish on the grill for extra flavor.
