Ingredients
  

Brownie Batter

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1 stick, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease an 8×8 inch square baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter.

Mixing

  • Stir the melted butter and add in the granulated sugar. Combine well.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, stirring vigorously after each addition.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Sift together cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder; fold into the wet mixture.
  • If using, fold in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top.
  • Bake for 20-30 minutes, checking at the 20-minute mark for doneness.

Cooling and Serving

  • Remove from oven and let cool in the pan on a wire rack.
  • Lift out using parchment overhang, cut into squares, and enjoy!

For perfect results, avoid overmixing and use high-quality cocoa powder. Let brownies cool completely before cutting for clean edges.
