Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Chips

  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, beating until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly dispersed.
  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets, placing them about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set but still soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Serving

  • Enjoy your cookies warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor. Chill the dough for thicker cookies. Don’t overbake to keep them chewy. For variations, consider using dark or milk chocolate chips, or add nuts or dried fruits.
