  • 1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers
  • 4 cups water for boiling
  • 1/4 cup sugar (or to taste) can be substituted with honey or agave syrup
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves about a handful
  • Ice for serving

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Boil 4 cups of water in a saucepan over high heat.
  • Remove from heat and add the dried hibiscus flowers, steeping for 10 minutes.
  • Strain the hibiscus tea into a pitcher to remove the flower petals.
  • While the tea is warm, add sugar and stir until fully dissolved.
  • Add fresh mint leaves and stir gently to release the mint’s oils.
  • Cool the tea to room temperature before refrigerating to chill.
  • Serve over ice and garnish with additional mint leaves if desired.

Notes

For additional flavor, muddle mint leaves in the serving glass. Optionally, add citrus fruits for a twist. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
