Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (plus extra for sprinkling)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Ice cream or whipped cream (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch baking dish.
  • Toss berries with 1/4 cup sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon until combined.
  • Stir in melted butter and milk until just incorporated.
  • Spread berry mixture in the baking dish. Pour batter over berries.
  • Sprinkle remaining sugar on top.
  • Bake for 35 minutes until golden and toothpick-clean.
  • Cool slightly before serving with optional ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Use fresh or thawed/dried frozen berries
Avoid overmixing batter for a tender texture
Add 1/4 cup extra flour for a denser top
