Ingredients
  

  • 2 large chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the chicken breasts by patting them dry with paper towels.
  • Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  • In a shallow bowl, beat the egg.
  • In another bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, allowing excess to drip off, then coat them thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture. Press the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to ensure a good coating.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush it with olive oil.
  • Place the breaded chicken breasts in the basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch.
  • Air fry the chicken for 12 minutes.
  • After 12 minutes, remove the basket, top each chicken breast with marinara sauce, and sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  • Return the basket to the air fryer and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the air fryer and let rest for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a crispier coating, double-dip the chicken in the egg and breadcrumb mixture.
Use whole-wheat or gluten-free breadcrumbs for a healthier or dietary-specific option.
Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed.
