Ingredients

  • 4 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken breasts and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions for 3-4 minutes until translucent and slightly caramelized.
  • Add minced garlic and stir for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Sprinkle flour over the onions and garlic, stirring to combine.
  • Slowly pour in chicken broth while stirring to create a smooth gravy. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Return chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning gravy over them. Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until chicken is fully cooked.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For even more flavor, dry-brine chicken breasts with spices for 20 minutes before cooking.
Use white meat chicken for extra juice retention.
Let chicken rest for 5 minutes after cooking to preserve juices.
Customize the gravy with thyme or rosemary for depth.
Serve with steamed rice or crusty bread for a complete meal.
