Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beef broth (for gravy)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (for gravy)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
  • Prepare the meatloaf mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, milk, Worcestershire sauce, and egg. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  • Shape the meatloaf: Transfer the mixture to a parchment-lined baking dish and shape into an oblong loaf (2-3 inches high).
  • Bake the meatloaf: Bake for 50 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Make the gravy: In a saucepan, whisk beef broth and flour until smooth. Stir in soy sauce and simmer until slightly thickened.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with gravy.

Notes

Add BBQ sauce for a hint of sweetness
Incorporate bell peppers or carrots for extra flavor
Use lean ground beef for a healthier version
Experiment with gravy seasonings (garlic powder, hot sauce, etc.)
Let meatloaf rest to maintain shape when slicing
