  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed Keep cold for better texture
  • 2/3 cup milk Use cold milk

For the Strawberries

  • 2 cups sliced strawberries Use fresh, ripe strawberries for best flavor
  • 2 tablespoons sugar For macerating strawberries

For Serving

  • Whipped cream Best made fresh or stabilized for longer storage

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually pour in the milk, mixing just until the dough comes together.
  • Drop the dough onto an ungreased baking sheet to form about 6 large biscuits.

Baking

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • While the biscuits are baking, toss the sliced strawberries with 2 tablespoons of sugar and let sit for 10 minutes.

Assembly

  • Once the biscuits have cooled slightly, split them in half horizontally.
  • Layer the bottom half with sugared strawberries and cream, then place the top half on.
  • Serve immediately with extra strawberries and whipped cream.

Notes

For perfect results, keep ingredients cold, don't overwork the dough, and serve immediately to enjoy contrasts of textures and flavors.
