Ingredients

For the cookie dough

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature for better mixing
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Use quality chocolate for better flavor
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats for easy cleanup.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Beat in each egg one at a time until fully incorporated, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed just until combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula until evenly distributed.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers still look slightly soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better texture. Chill the dough for 30 minutes if your kitchen is warm, and underbake slightly to keep cookies chewy.
