  • 4 pieces flour tortillas (6-8 inches)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
  • 1 tbsp butter, softened

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat until hot.
  • Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each tortilla.
  • Place a tortilla, buttered side down, in the skillet.
  • Sprinkle 1/4 cup of shredded cheese evenly over half of the tortilla.
  • Fold the tortilla in half over the cheese, pressing gently with a spatula.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
  • Flip the quesadilla carefully and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until golden and the cheese is fully melted.
  • Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before cutting into wedges.
  • Repeat with remaining tortillas and cheese.

Notes

For perfect quesadillas, use medium heat, don't overfill with cheese, press gently with a spatula, and consider adding garlic powder or smoked paprika for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days and reheat in a skillet or toaster oven for best texture.
