Ingredients

For the pudding

  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding mix (3.4 oz)
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 3 ripe bananas sliced
  • 1 container whipped cream or whipped topping (8 oz)

For layering

  • 1 box vanilla wafers (11 oz)

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until smooth and thickened, about 2 minutes. Set aside to let it set.
  • In a large glass bowl or trifle dish, arrange a single layer of vanilla wafers across the bottom.
  • Place a layer of banana slices over the wafers, covering them evenly.
  • Spread half of the prepared pudding over the bananas, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  • Add another layer of vanilla wafers, followed by another layer of banana slices, and the remaining pudding.
  • Top the pudding with a generous layer of whipped cream, spreading it evenly to cover the top.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until chilled and set. Serve cold.

Notes

Use ripe but firm bananas for the best texture. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld. For extra richness, substitute half-and-half for milk. Crush vanilla wafers for added texture on top.
