  • 1 oz taco seasoning mix Can use homemade seasoning.
  • 8 pieces taco shells Hard or soft, as preferred.
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce For topping.
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes For topping.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese For topping.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream For topping.
  • 1/2 cup salsa For topping.
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro Optional topping.
  • Lime wedges For serving.

Instructions

Cooking Beef

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Seasoning

  • Sprinkle the taco seasoning mix over the cooked beef.
  • Add 2/3 cup of water, stir well, and bring to a simmer.
  • Reduce heat and let it cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens.

Prepare Taco Shells

  • While the beef simmers, warm the taco shells according to package instructions—either in the oven or microwave.

Assemble Tacos

  • Spoon the seasoned ground beef evenly into each taco shell.
  • Top each taco with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, and fresh cilantro if desired.

Serve

  • Serve the tacos immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

Pro Tips: Use fresh spices for homemade seasoning, avoid overcrowding the pan, warm shells properly, and balance toppings for best texture. Store leftovers properly and serve toppings chilled before filling.
