Ingredients
  

Meatloaf Base

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Mac and Cheese Layer

  • 1 cup macaroni pasta
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  • Press the meat mixture into the bottom of a greased casserole dish to form an even layer.
  • In another bowl, mix cooked macaroni, milk, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Pour the macaroni mixture over the meatloaf layer, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top.

Cooking

  • Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the meat is cooked through and the casserole is bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, mix in some chopped fresh herbs like parsley or basil. Use a mix of different cheeses for a unique taste; mozzarella or pepper jack add a nice touch. Broil for a few minutes at the end of baking for a crispy topping.
