Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef for less grease.
  • 1 onion, chopped Yellow or white onion works well.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic is recommended.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or your choice of cheese.
  • 1 cup milk Use whole milk for creaminess.
  • 3 eggs Large eggs are preferred.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pre-made pie crust Or flaky dough makes it easier.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add onions and garlic; sauté until soft. Season with salt and pepper.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, flour, and baking powder until smooth.
  • Layer the cooked beef mixture into the bottom of a greased pie dish, then sprinkle cheese on top.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the beef and cheese.
  • Place the pie crust over the top, sealing the edges.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Make sure to drain any excess grease from the cooked beef to keep the pie from getting soggy. Use your favorite cheese to customize the flavor. Mozzarella or pepper jack can be great alternatives to cheddar. For a bit of spice, try adding some diced jalapeños or a splash of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
