Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef to reduce fat content.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Can substitute with other types of cheese.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can be substituted with cream of chicken soup.
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 package frozen tater tots
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened; drain excess fat.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef with cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper.
  • Spread the beef mixture into a greased casserole dish.
  • Layer the tater tots evenly on top of the beef mixture.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the tater tots.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  • Serve warm, optionally with pickles, mustard, and ketchup.

Notes

To store leftovers, let the casserole cool completely. Place it in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Can also freeze individual portions for about 2-3 months. For added nutrition, feel free to incorporate extra vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms. For a spicier kick, add jalapeños or hot sauce.
