Cake Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour Sifted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 0.5 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Caramel Sauce Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons brewed coffee
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar For garnishing

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a greased and floured 9x9-inch baking pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a larger bowl, beat the softened butter and egg until fluffy. Then, add brewed coffee, buttermilk, and vanilla extract; mix well.
  • Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool the cake for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Serving

  • Serve Gooey Coffee Caramel Cake warm or at room temperature. You can enjoy it on its own or add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
  • Drizzle additional caramel sauce over the cake for enhanced flavor.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened for easy mixing. Don’t overmix the batter; stop as soon as the dry ingredients are incorporated. Keep an eye on the cake while it bakes to prevent overcooking. For extra gooeyness, add more caramel sauce on top before serving.
