This Italian Baked Chicken is simple, cheesy, and full of warm tomato flavor. It cooks in one dish for easy cleanup, with moist chicken and melted cheese on top.

  • 24 oz pasta sauce
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Adjust according to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese You can also use provolone or a mix of mozzarella and parmesan.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Evenly pour the pasta sauce into the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish.
  • Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt, oregano, and thyme.
  • Nestle the chicken into the pasta sauce and evenly cover with the shredded cheese.

Cooking

  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.

Serving

  • Garnish with freshly chopped basil or parsley and enjoy!

Notes

Pat the chicken dry before seasoning. Use a meat thermometer to check doneness; chicken should reach 165°F. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
