  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium carrot, shredded
  • 1 medium bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Butter or romaine lettuce leaves for wrapping
  • Chopped green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the ground chicken to the skillet. Cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  • Stir in the carrot and bell pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  • Mix in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Serving

  • Serve the chicken mixture in the lettuce leaves, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.

Notes

Use fresh, crisp lettuce for the best wrap. Feel free to add other vegetables like mushrooms or water chestnuts for extra crunch. For a spicier option, add some chopped chilies or chili sauce to the mixture. Adjust the sauces to your taste; add more soy sauce for saltiness or hoisin sauce for sweetness. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
