  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Make sure the butter is melted but not hot.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa powder for richer flavor.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt If using salted butter, reduce added salt.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in vanilla extract.

Mixing Dry Ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

Serve at room temperature. Enjoy them plain, or with powdered sugar, ice cream, or whipped cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, in the fridge for up to two weeks, or freeze for up to three months. Stir ingredients gently to avoid overmixing. Consider adding chocolate chips or nuts for extra texture.
