Cake Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Ensure butter is fully melted.
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Make sure it's softened for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) You can omit if nut-free.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  • If using, sprinkle the chopped nuts on top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve at room temperature, plain or with whipped cream. Can be kept in an airtight container for up to a week in the fridge, or frozen for longer storage. Tips: Do not over-mix the batter to keep the cake fluffy. You can sprinkle powdered sugar on top for extra sweetness.
