  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 small cabbage, shredded
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, with juice
  • 1 cup cooked rice Any type of cooked rice works well.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper Freshly ground is best.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion until browned, about 7 minutes. Drain any fat.
  • Add the shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes with their juice, cooked rice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  • Simmer the mixture for about 5 minutes to blend the flavors together.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30–35 minutes, until the cabbage is tender.
  • Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Savory Cabbage Beef Bake is best enjoyed warm, served on its own or with a side of crusty bread or a fresh salad. For extra flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of cheese on top before baking or garnish with fresh herbs like parsley.
