  • 2 lbs ground beef Lean ground beef recommended
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 large bell peppers, diced (green, red, or a mix)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese Softened
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced
  • cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For cooking

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and bell peppers; cook for about 5-6 minutes until they begin to soften.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook while breaking up the meat with a spatula until completely browned, about 7-8 minutes.
  • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and allow it to coat the meat mixture.
  • Reduce heat to low and add the softened cream cheese, stirring until it melts and combines with the meat and vegetables.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Layer the sliced provolone cheese over the beef mixture, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Place in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Can be frozen and reheated when needed. Add extra vegetables for more nutrition or vary the cheese to suit your taste.
