Ingredients
  

Brownie Layer

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Toppings

  • 1 cup hot fudge sauce
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • as needed Maraschino cherries for topping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, melt the butter and stir in the granulated sugar. Add the eggs and mix well.
  • Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then mix until just combined.
  • Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 15 minutes, then remove from the oven.
  • Spread the hot fudge sauce over the brownie layer, then pour the remaining brownie batter on top.
  • Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with only a few moist crumbs.
  • Let cool, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Serving

  • Before serving, top with whipped cream and maraschino cherries.
  • Slice it into wedges, and generously top each slice with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.
  • Drizzle extra hot fudge sauce over the slice for an added treat. Pair it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For longer storage, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and foil, and freeze for up to a month. Thaw overnight in the fridge before serving.
