Ingredients

Strawberry Mixture

  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries, washed, hulled, and sliced Use ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for brightness)

Cream Mixture

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream For a lighter version, you can use whipped topping or a mixture of yogurt and cream cheese.
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract You can add a few drops of almond extract for a different taste.

Layering Ingredients

  • 1 package of ladyfinger cookies or graham crackers For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free cookies or graham crackers.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix the sliced strawberries with granulated sugar and lemon juice. Let it sit for about 20 minutes to macerate.
  • In another bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

Layering

  • In a serving dish, layer ladyfinger cookies. Top with strawberries, and then add whipped cream.
  • Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used up, finishing with whipped cream on top.

Chill

  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes

Serve chilled, garnished with extra strawberries or mint leaves. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for optimal taste within 2-3 days. The ladyfingers or graham crackers may become softer over time.
