  • 1/2 cup Butter Make sure the butter is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 cup All-purpose Flour Don't overmix the dough once the flour is added.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt Omit if using salted butter.
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips Use semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased pie pan.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

Best served warm or at room temperature. You can serve it plain or add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Drizzling chocolate sauce or caramel over each slice enhances the flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or refrigerate for up to a week.
