Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs

For the Filling

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

For the Ganache

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth and pour into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool for 15 minutes, then poke holes all over the cake with a fork.

Filling

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sweetened condensed milk, coconut, and pecans. Cook while stirring until heated through and slightly thickened. Pour mixture over the warm cake, ensuring it fills the holes.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely.

Ganache

  • For the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until simmering. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips until melted and smooth. Pour ganache over the cake.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Make sure to mix the ingredients well for a smooth batter. Let the cake cool completely before adding the filling to avoid melting it. Adjust the amount of coconut and pecans based on your preference for more texture. Dark chocolate chips can be used for a richer flavor.
