  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Coating

  • 1 cup finely crushed crackers (like Ritz or club crackers) Press the crushed crackers on firmly so they stick well.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, diced jalapeños, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well-combined.
  • Form the mixture into a football shape and place it on a serving platter.
  • Roll the cheese ball in the crushed crackers to coat it evenly.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Serving

  • Place the football cheese ball on a large platter. Add crackers, pita chips, and cut vegetables around it.
  • You can pipe a little sour cream or mayo in lines to look like football laces.
  • For a sweet balance, serve small desserts like baklava pistachio cheesecake on the side.

Notes

Wrap the cheese ball well in plastic wrap or keep it in an airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Do not leave it out more than two hours at room temperature. It can be frozen, but the texture may change after thawing. Taste the mix before shaping; add more jalapeño if you want more heat.
