  • 2 pounds beef roast (chuck or brisket)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • French rolls or hoagie buns Use fresh rolls for a crunchy texture.
  • Slices of provolone or Swiss cheese Optional topping.

Preparation

  • Place the beef roast in the crockpot.
  • In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Pour the mixture over the beef.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the beef is tender.
  • Remove the beef from the crockpot and shred it with a fork.

Serving

  • Toast the French rolls if desired, then load them with shredded beef and top with cheese.
  • Serve the sandwiches with the au jus from the crockpot for dipping.

Notes

For extra flavor, sear the beef roast before placing it in the crockpot. Adjust seasoning as desired. This recipe can be made ahead of time.
