  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Ensure butter is melted but not too hot.
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs Add eggs one at a time.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Reduce if using salted butter.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Consider substituting with white chocolate or caramel chips.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. For best freshness, store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
