  • 1 pound ground beef Preferably lean ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to use different types of cheese
  • 0.5 cup Bisquick mix For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free baking mix
  • 1 cup milk Whole milk recommended
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature is best
  • 0.5 cup diced onion White or yellow onion works well
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and season with salt and pepper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the Bisquick mix, milk, and eggs until smooth.
  • Grease a pie dish and pour in the beef mixture, then top with the Bisquick mixture.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

This pie can be served warm, alongside a fresh side salad or steamed vegetables. Consider adding ketchup or mustard for a classic burger experience. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, or frozen for up to 2 months.
