Cake Ingredients

  • 1 package (8 oz / 225 g) cream cheese, softened Make sure it is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Use unsalted butter for better flavor control.
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 package chocolate cake mix Use a good quality chocolate cake mix.
  • 1 cup peanut butter Your choice of creamy or chunky.
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, chopped For topping.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, eggs, and melted butter. Mix until well combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  • In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Add in the peanut butter and mix well.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture into the batter and swirl gently with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  • Top with chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cooling

  • Let cool before serving.

Notes

Serve the cake warm or at room temperature. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side, sprinkle with powdered sugar, or drizzle with chocolate syrup for added flavor. Pairs well with coffee or a cold glass of milk.
